Struggling to park? A scooter is easier to park and avoids most queues: compare quotes on the scooter rental Ischia page.
Parking is one of the main challenges of driving on Ischia in summer. Knowing the rules in advance saves time and avoids fines, whether you rent a car or a scooter.
What the lines mean
- Blue lines: paid parking. Pay at the meter or with a parking app and display the ticket.
- White lines: free, but often with a time limit (parking disc) or reserved for residents. Read the signs.
- Yellow lines: reserved (disabled drivers, loading, residents, police). Do not park there.
Scooter parking
Scooters and motorbikes have dedicated bays in every town, usually free. Never park on pavements, at pedestrian crossings or in front of driveways: towing and fines are frequent in high season. Lock the helmet in the under-seat compartment.
Near the ports
Ischia Porto and Casamicciola have paid car parks close to the piers. They fill up quickly at ferry times, so arrive early on departure day.
Beaches and thermal parks
Popular beaches such as Citara, Maronti and San Montano, and thermal parks such as Poseidon, Negombo and Castiglione, have private car parks with daily or hourly rates. In August a scooter is the easiest way to avoid queues.
Sant'Angelo and the historic centres
Sant'Angelo is a pedestrian village: leave your vehicle in the car park at the top of the village and walk down. Ischia Ponte and the centre of Forio also have ZTL limited-traffic zones; check our ZTL guide.
Common mistakes
- Parking on white lines reserved for residents.
- Leaving a car in a blue zone without a valid ticket.
- Blocking a driveway or bus stop with a scooter.
