Ischia is small enough to ride around in a day, about 33 km on the coastal ring road, but you need a week to enjoy it properly. This 7-day itinerary covers all six towns: Ischia, Casamicciola Terme, Lacco Ameno, Forio, Serrara Fontana and Barano.
Day 1 – Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte
Collect your scooter, ride along Via Roma and Corso Vittoria Colonna, then continue to Ischia Ponte to visit the Aragonese Castle. End the day with dinner by the harbour.
Day 2 – Casamicciola and Lacco Ameno
Head west along the north coast. Stop in Lacco Ameno to see the Fungo rock and the Villa Arbusto museum, then spend the afternoon at San Montano bay.
Day 3 – Forio and its sunsets
Explore the centre of Forio, the Chiesa del Soccorso and the La Mortella gardens. Watch the sunset from Citara or Punta Imperatore.
Day 4 – Thermal park day
Pick a thermal park such as Poseidon, Negombo or Castiglione. Arrive early, use the park's car park and spend the day there.
Day 5 – Sant'Angelo
Leave the scooter at the top of the village and walk down to the pedestrian centre. Take a water taxi to the Maronti beach or the Cavascura hot springs.
Day 6 – Mount Epomeo and the hill villages
Ride up to Serrara Fontana and Fontana, the starting point of the hike to the summit of Epomeo (789 m). A 125cc scooter handles these climbs much better than a 50cc.
Day 7 – Barano and the Maronti beach
Finish with a relaxed day at Maronti, Ischia's longest beach, then return the scooter before your ferry.
Practical tips
- Avoid riding in the hottest hours in July and August.
- Book boat trips for calm mornings.
- Always park in the marked two-wheeler bays.
